Al Wadi

One among the most authentic Yemeni food spots in Hyderabad. You may even feel that you’ve entered some restaurant in Yemen with all the hustle bustle and the waiter placing an order by yelling ‘Wahid Areeka Mahalli’! They serve sizzling Fahsa in a stone pot! Yes! as authentic as it gets!

Our favourite picks are:

Fahsa: Yemeni stew served in a sizzling hot stone pot. Beware! give it some time before you dunk the flaky khubooz, it can burn your fingers and leave your tongue numb for a week! Comes both in Beef and Goat.

Mutton/Chicken Mandi: We don’t want to drop the word ‘authentic’ over and over but can’t help! Mandi here is as simple as it can get. It won’t overwhelm your taste buds but you may find it difficult to stop ordering more portions unless you are on a diet.

Chicken Shawaya: We believe this is the best grilled chicken you can get in Hyderabad. It is different from others as they use very minimal spices rather than dunking the chicken in two dozen marinades. The result is a succulent piece of art! Goes well with their Mandi and Bukhari rice as well as Khubooz.

Chicken Faham: Mostly similar to the Shawaya but cooked in a different method. The chicken goes around in a specially designed rotisserie with lit charcoal and comes out as a smoky sibling of the Shawaya.

Mutton Hanidh: Slow cooked mutton chunks that fall off the bone. Goes well with rice, Mandi or Bukhari.

Khubooz: Flaky Yemeni bread. You can wrap an entire goat in their double khubooz.

Areeka: Addictive dessert made with dates, bread, cream, cheese, honey, topped with crunchy sesame! It’s heavy! Make sure you have at least 3-4 people to share, else you might despise your life! Second only to Kunafa.

Zurbiyan: A royal version of mandi served only for lunch on Fridays and Sundays.

Please feel free to try any item on the menu including Aqda, Laham sughar, Ful etc.
